Yummiest of lot arrives on the Red Dot

If the temptation to return back to your homeland simply to end your long deprivation from Singapore’s local delights is getting too strong to resist, hold on just a little longer. Sure, you can still fly back any time you want to get your hands on a piping hot bowl of laksa or a long-desired plate of chilli crab, but why not plan your return just in time for the World Street Food Jamboree Feast?

To be held from the 31st of May to the 9th of June this year, the World Street Food Jamboree Feast is a ten-day long carnival that will feature the best of street foods from ten different countries, all conveniently compressed within one place: the F1 Pit Building & Paddock, located on 1 Republic Boulevard. Apart from familiar Singaporean favourites like the Indian Rojak, there are also flavourful dishes from nine other countries to satiate your palate like the “Bao Luo Fen” (rice noodles from Wenchang, Hainan) from China and the soft shell crab burgers from the USA.

The one-day food coupon pack not only includes $20 worth of food coupons for all the dishes present, for it also grants you access to street food masterclasses and presentations. You will also be in for a musical treat, as various Singapore musicians and bands will be performing live nightly from 8pm to 9:40pm. They include the Budak Pantai, Rani Singam, Electrico and Shirlyn Tan, among others.

The World Street Food Dialogue will also take place within the same time period alongside the World Street Food Jamboree. A two-day conference happening on the 3rd and 4th of June, it will feature speakers from the food industry, handpicked for their experience and passion. Speakers include Mr. KF Seetoh, Founder of Makansutra and accorded Singapore’s Food Ambassador by Singapore’s former President Mr. SR Nathan, Mr. Vo Quoh, top Vietnamese chef, also editor, editor-in-chief and owner of three Vietnamese cuisine magazines, as well as Mr. Anthony Bourdain, author of bestselling book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, and host of CNN’s Parts Unknown and hit TV shows Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and The Layover, among others.
